With less than a month before Louisiana Democrats choose their nominee for U.S. Senate, the party’s three candidates will share a debate stage April 21 in Baton Rouge in what is likely to be one of the clearest side-by-side tests of the race before voting begins.
Nick Albares, Gary Crockett, and Jamie Davis are scheduled to participate in a one-hour debate on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Leon R. Tarver II Cultural and Heritage Center on the campus of Southern University and A&M College. Louisiana’s Democratic primary is set for May 16.

The debate will feature a moderator and a panel of reporters questioning the candidates on the major issues shaping the contest, the challenges facing Louisiana, and the national stakes surrounding the 2026 election.
Media partners for the event include The Advocate/The Times-Picayune/Nola.com, WRKF, the Louisiana Illuminator, and LouisianaFirstNews.com. Civic and community partners include 10,000 Women Louisiana and Indivisible Louisiana.
The debate will be livestreamed by The Bayou Progressive, with additional details on attendance, broadcast access, simulcast partners, and final format still to come.
“Debates are one of the clearest opportunities voters have to hear candidates directly, compare their priorities, and evaluate who is prepared to represent them,” said Quentin Anthony Anderson, publisher and editor of The Bayou Progressive. “This debate will give Louisiana voters the opportunity to hear from all three Democratic candidates in a serious forum focused on the issues, the office, and the stakes of this election.”
The event comes at a consequential point in the race, offering Democratic voters a rare chance to see all three candidates answer the same questions, defend their records and arguments, and make their case in real time before ballots are cast.
