Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Nick Albares said Thursday that his brother, David Albares, has died, and that he will temporarily step away from the campaign trail to be with his family.
“On Tuesday, March 24, 2026 I learned my brother died,” Albares said in a statement. “My brother and I were very close and we loved having conversations about everything from creating a better world, to science, to spirituality.”
Albares said he plans to spend time with his family mourning his brother before returning to the race.
“I plan to take time to be with my family, remember my brother’s life, and mourn with them,” he said. “I expect to return to the campaign trail soon to continue my campaign to expand access to affordable healthcare, lower costs for families, and fight for working families.”
