Forbes Campaign Reports Raising More Than $100,000 in First 8 Weeks

Democratic congressional candidate Pat Forbes announced Thursday that his campaign has raised more than $100,000 from over 2,000 individual donors in its first eight weeks, marking an early fundraising milestone for the former state official ahead of Louisiana’s November 3 election.

The figures, which have not yet been independently verified, are expected to be reflected in the campaign’s upcoming Federal Election Commission filing. The October 15 reporting deadline will provide a more complete picture of fundraising across the 6th Congressional District field, including how much candidates have raised, spent and retained heading into the final stretch.

“The overwhelming support our campaign has received in such a short period of time tells me people in the 6th District are tired of watching their bills go up while Washington looks the other way,” Forbes said in a statement Thursday. “This support means we can continue taking our message to every corner of the district.”

Forbes, who previously served as executive director of Louisiana’s Office of Community Development, entered the race in August and has since secured endorsements from several prominent Democrats, including former Gov. John Bel Edwards, former U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu and former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu.

His campaign also announced new endorsements this week from former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge and the Louisiana Law Enforcement Association.

Forbes is one of three Democrats competing in the crowded 6th District field, alongside former Baton Rouge Metro Councilwoman Chauna Banks and Lindsay “Rubia” Garcia. All three are seeking to advance in a race that also includes several Republican candidates.

The fundraising announcement comes ahead of Friday’s televised candidate forum hosted by WBRZ, where Forbes will appear alongside four other invited candidates, including all three Democratic candidates. The forum is scheduled for October 9 at 7 p.m.

Early voting begins October 20 and continues through October 27, with Election Day scheduled for November 3.
